Chief Justice McLachlin notes with sadness the passing of her former colleague Donald Brenner

Ottawa, 14 March 2011 - The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Chairperson of the Canadian Judicial Council, noted with great sadness the recent passing of the late Donald Brenner, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. He was a highly respected member of the Canadian Judicial Council for over nine years. All Council members remember him as a perfect gentleman with a great sense of justice. His work in the areas of access to justice, professional development, judicial independence and technology was of great value to the citizens of British Columbia and to the judiciary across Canada. On behalf of all Council members and their spouses, Chief Justice McLachlin extends her sympathy to Don Brenner's wife Robin and the entire family.
