Judicial Council releases computer security "Blueprint" for public comment

OTTAWA, January 21, 2004 – The Canadian Judicial Council today released a draft "Blueprint" of security measures designed to protect computer systems containing judicial information.

The Canadian Judicial Council Blueprint for the Security of Judicial Information may be found on the Council Web site at http://www.cjc-ccm.gc.ca/cmslib/general/news_blueprint_20040121_en.pdf.

The Blueprint provides a model to improve the security, accessibility and integrity of computer systems used by judges and court staff. It seeks to provide a high standard of recommended policies and practices for all courts.

The document is now posted for public consultation. Comments are welcome and may be sent by mail to the Judges Technology Advisory Committee of the Council at 15th floor, 150 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0W8, or by email to blueprint@fja.gc.ca. The deadline for comments is May 31, 2004.
